I was expecting more thumping and booming like a subwoofer in a car stereo. If you are looking to add just a little more low end sound to your current Tivoli set up, this item is a must have. To solve that problem, I bought the Tivoli Model Subwoofer. The subwoofer itself was easy to hook up and was running within a few short minutes. It gives a full and rich sound that doesn't overtake the mid and high range. Originally buying the Model Two, I was extremely happy with its performance.
It fills the room with the needed bass without being the focal point of the stereo. My Model Two head unit sits on an end table and the subwoofer fits nicely underneath it. It compliments the Model Two perfectly. In all, the Model Subwoofer is a great addition to the Model Two, Three, and Satellite. You won't be disappointed. However, after listening to it for a couple hours, it grew on me greatly. There is full volume adjustment to help balance out the subwoofer to the rest of the system.
I was very impressed with the clarity and warmth of the stereo. Its small and unobtrusive; about the size of two Model Ones stacked on top of each other. With the same taupe/cherry styling as the Model Two, the Model Subwoofer has an LED light, 5 ¼" speaker, bass port, and volume and on/off knobs on the face of the unit. I found that dialing the volume control to the middle indent provides perfect bass that is matched for the rest of the stereo. However, I always felt there was some sound missing on the low end. The bass sound was very natural, clear, and helped round out the overall sound quality of the stereo. The unit as a whole is not intimidating at all.At first listen, I wasn't impressed.
The Model Subwoofer has only two cords: one for power and one for audio. The back of the unit is even simpler; a 120v input, 12v input, and mini input jack are it.
i would like possibly a little more punch, and that is why i didn't rate it a 5. the subwoofer is never overwhelming, it adds just enough bass to fill in the sound. i would definitely buy it again, it is a beautiful addition. purchased the subwoofer along with the model two stereo. the subwoofer is beautiful, the real wood veneer is nice and definitely classier than comparable stereos that are composite materials.
Very good quality, highly recommended. Makes a small audio system sound like a big system.
You can pay anywhere from $80 to $175 for this unit. You also need to shop around for the best price. I was already happy with the sound quality of the Tivoli Model Two, but after adding the subwoofer I love it. The only thing I don't like is the hum you get if you turn off the tuner and leave the subwoofer in standby mode.
It was useless.Obviously this must be an upgrade. Sent it back; no bass.I'm on the fence.
All Tivolis I have get fantastic reception.WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO LIGHT THE DIAL. Best purchase was their sattelite W/ Sirius.
I purchased the 80.00 sub mentioned in a review of this item. I splurged on $800.00 table radio w/down firing sub.
It's hard enoug to read in daylight.D.Fortes,M.V.MA3 stars because I haven't made the purchase.yet. I,as that gentleman was also very disappointed.
It's twice the price and has a vent.My last Tivoli purchase was 10/07.
